Accessing EBSCO Resources

As a delegate with Real Training you have access to EBSCOhost, a powerful online database containing hundreds of abstracts, full text journal articles and books covering psychology, behavioural sciences and education research.

Available Databases

Education Research Complete: Education Research Complete is the world’s largest and most complete collection of full text education journals. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,300 journals, as well as full text for nearly 1,400 journals. It also includes full text for nearly 550 books and monographs, and full text for numerous education-related conference papers.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection: The Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database providing nearly 560 full text publications. The database covers topics such as emotional and behavioural characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. More information on EBSCO, including effective searching, is provided in the document attached to this page, Guide to EBSCO online journal library.

Creating and using an EBSCO account

Creating an EBSCO account allows you to bookmark articles that you’ve found useful for quick access in the future. These accounts are free, but still require you to access EBSCO via the Campus Online module page. To create an EBSCO account, follow the instructions in the document attached to this page, EBSCO Sign-up Guide.

Once you have created an account you can bookmark books, articles and other resources that you find interesting.

Filtering out abstracts

Some of the records you will come across in the EBSCO database are abstracts. Delegates have found it helpful to know how to omit these records.

Once you have completed the steps in the Accessing the EBSCO Resources Search Options link. Under the Limit Your Results heading is a Full Text checkbox. Click the checkbox to remove the abstract records.

Another way of filtering out abstracts is via the left-hand menu on the search results page. Click the Full Text checkbox to limit the results to those that are full text only.
